Important Information: Be Prepared.

Preparing for your procedure is very important. Please follow all the instructions and if you have questions give us a call at 415-600-1151.

Please hand carry any X-ray films, such as CT scan, MRI, or Ultrasound, to us on the day of your appointment

Please Let Us Know:

If you are on Coumadin or other blood thinners. You will receive special instructions from the IES staff.

If you have had a barium X-ray or CT scan in the past week. The barium may interfere with the endoscopic procedure.

If there is a chance you might be pregnant.

Your Daily Medications:

If you are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs (Advil, Motrin, Naprosyn, etc.) please stop taking these for 5 days prior to your endoscopic procedure. 

If you have diabetes and take insulin, do not take your morning dose on the day of the examination unless instructed differently. Check your fingerstick glucose before leaving home and notify the nurse of the result upon arrival to the Center. 

Special Preparation for Procedures:

Each procedure will have different preparation instructions. If you have any questions regarding the preparation you should follow please call the Interventional Endoscopy Center office at 415-600-1151.

Going Home After Your Procedure:

You must bring a driver or arrange transportation home after your endoscopic procedure. Driving is not permitted for a least 12 hours, due to drowsiness and delayed reflexes from the IV medication. You should also not conduct any business or sign any legal documents until the next day.
